Program for January 24, 2023
January 24, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Following a short Annual General Meeting, our program will feature the History of the Society since 1956.
More than sixty-five years ago, in 1956, a small group of Scarborough citizens led by the Reeve of Scarborough, gathered together to initiate the founding of the Scarborough Historical Society. Monthly meetings of 10-15 people met quarterly to listen to presentations provided by guest speakers.
Since then, the Society’s membership grew to almost 500 during Scarborough’s Bicentennial year when interest in our history peaked. Programs were held in the meeting room of Bendale Library. Various new activities such as: displays at the Scarborough Town Centre, preservation of heritage buildings, the establishment of the museum in Thomson Park, the publishing of hundreds of newsletters plus several booklets and the establishment of an Archives and Research Centre will be featured in a power point presentation.
Join other Society members and guests as we look back on our many accomplishments.
