Tour Time Update for Knox United Tour May 28th 6:30 pm

This is going to be an amazing experience so please note the time changes below!

The organizers of this coming Tuesday’s program at Knox United Church have looked at time logistics for the Cemetery and Stained Glass Window tours and are offering an earlier start for this portion of the program for any interested in including this with their visit and who can be at the church by 6:30.sharp.

The new schedule is as follows;

Tour 1: 6:30 pm – 6:50 pm

Tour 2: 6:55 pm – 7:15 pm

There will be rotations for each time block.

All the tours would be completed by 7:15 pm at the latest to ensure readiness for the musical presentation at 7:25 pm. Followed by the Speaker and a question period. Next, the host encourages everyone to visit the Heritage Room (Big Dig room) to view some of the Doors Open displays. The Scarborough East Business Association has donated a Gift Certificate with the draw taking place in the Heritage Room.

The Scarborough Historical Society welcomes you to this month’s program which will be taking place on Tuesday May 28th from 7-9 PM and will be at Knox United Church in Agincourt. With 175 years in Scarborough this will be an evening rich in the history not just of the church but also of the community. All programs provided by the historical society are free of charge.Parking for the event is plentiful in the church parking lot and this can be accessed from Midland Ave. just north of Sheppard Ave.on Rural Rd.

Knox United Church 175th Anniversary Tour

Join us May 28th, 7 pm for a free tour of Knox United Church, Agincourt . The 175 year old church is located at the corner of Church Street (oops, Midland Avenue) and Main Street (uh oh, Sheppard Avenue), just north of the sawmill (oh no that’s long gone!)

Take this opportunity to discover:

  • the connection of this area with King Henry the V
    • what movie star is buried here
    • a tombstone competition
    • an unusual bank robbery
    • who was John Hill

Picture an area which esentially was fields, forests, streams, rivers and scattered settlements. Together let’s figure out what brought people together to create the Village of Agincourt.
