You can now renew your membership for 2023 and make a donation (if you wish) by following these simple directions:

Please note that our membership fees are now $15.00 annually.

If there are NO CHANGES to your address, phone number, email address etc. simply go to our website, click on “Donate” and enter your membership fee for 2023 ($15.00) and any additional donation if you wish. Make sure you add your name and address so we know who made the transaction. You can use a credit card or PayPal. If using PayPal, you can also complete your address at the bottom.

If there are changes to your address, phone number, email address etc. please use the renewal form which was included in the last newsletter, and mail your membership renewal form and your cheque to our office at the Archives:

Our next issue of Notes and Comments will be mailed out in January along with our annual report. It’s free to all those who have renewed their membership for 2023 so don’t wait around and miss this mailing.

Now that Covid-19 vaccines are readily available and government restrictions have been adjusted, the Archives will be available to researchers once again.

During the daytime, we are limiting researchers to daytime appointments between 1:30 and 4:30, Monday – Friday afternoons.

To make a daytime appointment for research, please email to: scarborougharchives@rogers.com or phone any afternoon at 416-396-6930 to make an appointment.

We will also reopen Thursday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 pm for research only at this time. Group tours will not be available.

We will not be reopening on Tuesday evenings at this time.

Visitors must be fully vaccinated and masks may be requested until further notice.

Two recent projects come to mind when looking around our community. With Covid-19 resulting in a change in our normal routines and limited opportunities to shop or visit in groups, here’s a chance to drive around Scarborough and take note (and pictures) of our heritage.

Pictured below are two interesting new heritage features.

The former Stop 14, Stinson’s Grocery store at Midland and Kingston Road, has now been restored to its former 1903 appearance. The new owners have done a great job, using historical photographs to fix up this designated heritage property.

The Midland Park mural on the plaza wall at Ellesmere and Birkdale Road is the work of a dedicated group of local residents who have been trying for years to have the unique community designated as a Heritage Conservation District.
